Healthcare
A sick Army is an ineffective Army. So providing efficient healthcare services is vital to maintaining the Army's fighting capability and protecting the lives of its soldiers.
Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps
QARANC staffs hospital in the UK and abroad, including NHS hospitals, and also provides personnel for specialised units such as field hospitals on exercise and operations as well as small teams operating in remote locations.
Royal Army Dental Corps
The RADC recognises that teeth are an important part of general health and well being, and since its formation in 1921, the corps has dedicated itself to looking after them. Its staff work in dental centres and hospitals, and may move to field units in times of conflict
Royal Army Medical Corps
The RAMC keeps the Army healthy and effective wherever it serves and whatever job it's being asked to do. RAMC soldiers provide a range of care, from emergency first aid for casualties in the front line to treatment in hospitals and smaller medical centres all over the world.
Royal Army Veterinary Corps
The RAVC looks after every aspect of animals' lives in the Army, deciding which animals are suitable for service and looking after their teeth and fitness. As well as operating its veterinary clinics and hospitals, RAVC staff are attached to mounted regiments for ceremonial functions as well as providing military dog units with trained animals.
HR Admin & Finance
The Army is a complex organisation - so too is the business of running it and supporting its most lethal weapon: its people. This is the responsibility of the Adjutant General's Corps Staff and Personnel Support (SPS) Branch, trained soldiers and specialists in human resources (HR), administration and finance, who deliver key services to every part of the Army.
A major part of the work of the AGC (SPS) is providing 24-hour HR and personnel support to soldiers and officers and that can include everything from managing personnel systems and advising on training to sorting out legal or debt problems. After all, it's hard to be effective as a soldier on operations if you're worried about your family back home. Business administration, finance and accounting are also the remit of the AGC (SPS) and it is a major user of IT, managing and operating information and databases systems. www.armyadministration.co.uk
