You will be working for...

A registered charity which provides captioning and live subtitling services to theatres and other arts venues to make their activities accessible to people who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing. The company has developed from being a purely voluntary body operating from the kitchen table in one of the founder's homes, to a professional organisation that is regularly funded by Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation which currently employs seven people.

In this job you will be doing...

- Send out weekly backstage reports (database linked to website listings) to captioners and technicians
- Work with the Theatre Programme Manager to secure new venues/productions for captioned performances
- Update Speech to Text Reporter (STTR) details regarding individual technical packages and software
- Review and update monitoring of 'in-house' venues forthcoming captioned performances ensuring online trailers are subtitled and that access meets best practice standards
- Support development of the company's Digital Archive regarding captioned scripts transcripts and media files
- Record and report damaged / faulty equipment to the appropriate manager and ensure action is undertaken
- Create news stories and new content for the e-news when required
- Distribute the postal newsletter
- Keep channels up-to-date and respond to queries in Communications Manager's absence
- Collate monthly statistics on social media and digital channels
- Put performances and events?live on the company website, checking details against the details on the host venue's site
- Source and edit images for monthly carousel uploads and day-to-day updates to the website

Your training will...

Start with a 12-14 month Business apprenticeship, which consists of 10 days of in-centre training in combination with work-based assessment, covering: IT skills, Customer service, Administration and Complaints handling.

You will gain a City & Guilds Level 3 in Business & Administration. This fantastic opportunity can potentially lead to you earning 25k in a business role.

Someone with

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good administrative skills acquired professionally, through voluntary work or education
- Good IT skills, including an understanding of IT systems, with fluency in MS Office
- An understanding of the diversity of people with a hearing loss
- An interest in new media and technology
- The ability to work alone or in a team and with colleagues
- A flexible approach to work, keen to develop new skills and ability to contribute positively to work
- Self-motivation
- A good sense of humour and who is personable
- Ideally 5 GCSE Grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English
